Welcome! I’m Vanessa Johnson-Pearson, founder of Aspire2Inspire LLC, a literacy advocacy and youth empowerment organization dedicated to supporting children, families, and educators through coaching, storytelling, and transformational learning experiences.

I am a literacy advocate, youth empowerment mentor, and education leader committed to closing the literacy gap and ensuring that every child has access to strong reading foundations and supportive learning environments. I currently serve as a fellow with JerseyCAN, where I collaborate with educators, policymakers, and community leaders to promote evidence-based literacy practices and strengthen educational opportunities for all students.

My journey into literacy advocacy became deeply personal when my son was diagnosed with a speech delay at two years old. That experience led me to immerse myself in the science of reading, early language development, and literacy instruction. What began as a mission to support my own child quickly grew into a broader commitment to helping families and educators understand how children learn to read and how we can work together to support them.

I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a concentration in Childhood Studies and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Healthcare Management. Professionally, I bring more than 16 years of leadership experience in behavioral health and procurement contract management, giving me a unique perspective that blends strategic leadership, community engagement, and child development.

Through Aspire2Inspire, I work to:

• Support parents with practical literacy tools and strategies

• Partner with schools to strengthen literacy instruction and family engagement

• Lead interactive workshops that build confidence, emotional intelligence, and a love of learning

• Create children’s books and resources that celebrate diversity, belonging, and self-affirmation

I serve as a Literacy Support Specialist with Reading Partners, part of a global initiative working to reduce the literacy gap by providing individualized reading support for students. I am also an active member of the NAACP Oranges & Maplewood Branch, where I serve on the Education Committee, advocating for equitable educational opportunities, improved literacy outcomes, and stronger partnerships between schools and families

As a mother of two, I understand the importance of nurturing both academic success and emotional well-being. Every workshop, program, and resource created through Aspire2Inspire is rooted in that belief.

My mission is simple but powerful:

To help children become confident readers, empower families with knowledge and tools, and support educators in creating classrooms where every child feels capable, valued, and inspired to learn.
